Freeport-Phyllis V Bicker, 88, of Freeport, died Sunday, October 9, 2005, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born March 28, 1917 in Freeport she was the daughter of Stuart and Hedwig (Schroeder) Boynton. She married Orval Bicker September 16, 1961 and he died August 12, 1972.
She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Freeport High School in 1936.
She worked in the production and inventory control department at Burgess Battery retiring in 1983. She then worked part time in the Dietary department at the Stephenson Nursing Center.
She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, served on the Lutheran School board, the Alter Guild, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Worship committee, and the church's Senior Citizen Group. She was a member of Hospice of Northwest Illinois and retired Senior Volunteer Program for F.A.C.C.
Phyllis enjoyed gardening and bowling.
Surviving are three step-sons, Marlin (DeLores) Bicker and Lowell (Mary) Bicker both of Baileyville, and Richard Bicker of Freeport; step grandchildren, Becky Bicker, Deb, and Dave Foust, Scott Bicker, Bruce, and Melissa Bicker, Mandy and Jack Barnings, Molly Romolton, Brenda and Wayne Gulliskson, Beth and Tom Duley, Becky (Carl) Erbson;
many step grandchildren, nieces; nephews, including David Builta of Freeport; cousin, Vernon "Butch" (Donna) Schopf of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Eugene Boynton; sister, Dolores Builta; one step grandson, Craig Bicker.
Funeral service will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Reverend Willis Schwicthenberg and Vicar David Daniel officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
A memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
