Phyllis J. Hostetter

Phyllis June Hostetter, age 73, of Freeport passed away at Freeport Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Illinois on June 8th, 2026. She was born on October 26th, 1952 in Canton, Illinois to Pauline Helen Ford and Earl William Gray (deceased).

Phyllis attended Canton, Illinois High School. Phyllis was a woman of many talents and trades, she held jobs as a Walmart Associate and Shopko Pharmacy Technician for many years before starting her career at Freeport Memorial Hospital in the Sterile Processing Unit. Phyllis met the love of her life, Tom Hostetter in 1982. The two were married at Hollywood Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on September 11th, 2008. Phyllis spent her remaining years spending time with her family and friends, attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events, thrift store shopping with her best friend Edna, cooking and hosting family gatherings, sewing,  watching Wheel of Fortune and Naked and Afraid.

Her survivors include her Sister Patricia Rohrer, Brother Mike Gray, Daughter Candi Heitkam (Ray Davison) of Freeport; Son Robert Chambers (Michelle Chambers) of Freeport; Grandchildren Jordan, Mackenzie, Kyle, Marissa, Madison, Damian, Maria, Tyler, Trey, Nikolas, Lexi, and Luca; 8 Great Grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her Son Michael Allen Gray; Sisters Peggy Kerns, Paulette Fate, and Pam Gray; and Brother Bill Gray.

There will be a Visitation on Saturday, June 27th beginning at 10:30 and Funeral at 11:30 all at Walker Mortuary followed by a procession to the Mausoleum at Oakland Cemetery.  There will be a lunch afterwards at the Beltline Cafe.
