Obituary
Phyllis I. Rowland, 87, of Freeport, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Manor Court.
Born February 6, 1926 in Freeport she was the daughter of Edwin and Celia (Zumdahl) Kaney. She married Merle A. Rowland February 26, 1950 and he died June 12, 2005.
Phyllis graduated from Forreston High School in 1944.
She was a member of Freeport Church of the Brethren where she was the organist for many years.
Surviving is her son, Dennis Rowland of Lakeland, Florida; her sister, Elaine (Ted) Long of Pecatonica; her brother, Paul Kaney of Phoenix, Arizona; her grandchildren, Damon (Alice) Rowland, David Rowland, Donovan Rowland and Danielle Rowland; one great grandson, Baxter Rowland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Virginia Heath.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Lisa Fike officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
