Freeport
Ralph G. Busekros, 74, of Freeport, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Manor Court in Freeport. Born July 30, 1938 in Freeport he was the son of Carl and Mabel (Hummermeier) Busekros. Ralph was a lifetime Stephenson County resident and a farmer actively involved in the Holstein dairy industry. FFA and 4-H were a big part of his growing-up years. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1956. From 1956-1963 he served with the Illinois National Guard. After retiring from farming, he established a hauling service enabling some seniors to remain in their homes. The last few years he was robbed of his active lifestyle by an autoimmune disease.
He married Audrey Platten on August 26, 1995. Surviving are his wife, Audrey of Scottsdale, AZ; 2 stepsons, Jeffrey Platten of AZ and William Platten of OH; 1 step granddaughter, Lauren Platten of OH; his sister, Jan (Roger) Zimmerman of Madison, WI; 1 niece, Janelle (Trent) Heinrich of Muskego, WI; and 1 nephew, Craig (Lori) Zimmerman of Oak Creek, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 3, at Salem United Church of Christ at 1 p.m. Visitation will begin at noon that day.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for University of Michigan Scleroderma Research Fund or Salem United Church of Christ.
