Ralph Vern Jones, 88 of Liberty Village in Freeport passed away on April 13, 2024 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Ralph was born on August 18, 1935 to the late Arlie and Dorothy Jones.

Ralph graduated from Dakota High School in 1953, where he started on the basketball, baseball, and softball teams. Ralph married his high school sweetheart Loretta Mae Kubly on February 6, 1954. They went on to have seven children while living in the Dakota area during their entire marriage. Ralph farmed, then later was the Head of Building and Grounds while also driving school bus for 36 years for the Dakota School District. After retiring, Ralph remained active by running a portable sawmill, producing maple syrup from thousands of gallons of maple sap, and tending to a large vegetable garden.  Loretta passed away on December 8, 2020 after 66 years of marriage.

Ralph is survived by his sister Janice Daniels, and by his seven children – Vernon (Tari) Jones, Diane (Tony) Nuzzo, Michael (Janet) Jones, Thomas Jones, Susan Jones, Lorene Jones, and Debra Packard. Ralph is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 8th at Dakota Cemetery at 10am.

A memorial has been established for St. Paul Church of Epleyanna in Davis, where Ralph was a member.
