Raymond M. Bieber, 70, of rural Davis went to heaven on Thursday February 7, 2013, after a year long battle with lung cancer, in his home surrounded by his family. Born June 9, 1942, in Eureka, SD. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Serving from 1960-1963, which he was stationed mostly in Germany. On December 21, 1963, he married Joyce Martschinske in Pierre. In 1969 he moved to Illinois to work at Chrysler Corp. Worked there for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of local 1268. He loved spending time with his family, family was very important to him, was an avid reader and enjoyed watching birds. He also liked pocketing money from playing euchre and poker with his friends. Ray is survived by his wife of 49 years, two sons: Jay (Brenda) Bieber of Oregon, Dean (A special friend Tammy Whidby) of Rockford; two daughters: Jeannie Bieber of Martinsville, IN and Vickie (John) Huwe of Machesney Park, six grandchildren: Ashley and Jayson Tucker, Sarah (Joe) Krupke, Jacob Bieber, Stephanie and Rachel Huwe, and one great granddaughter Addison Krupke; two brothers: Harvey (Olene) Bieber of Alton, August Bieber of Lead, SD; three sisters Millie Vanderwerff, of Lead, SD, Esther Leatherman, of Peoria, Dianna Tyndall of Lodi, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in law, and two sisters-in-law. Special Thank You to Dr. Ahmad and staff of OSF, Dr. Khan and staff of RMH, all the loving people of Serenity Hospice, and to Pastor Theiss. Visitation will be 10 am Saturday February, 16, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Pecatonica until 11 am. Memorial service will be 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church, Pecatonica with Reverend Terry Theiss officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be in Eureka, South Dakota at a later date. In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name for the Serenity Hospice, Oregon and the Rockford Rescue Mission.
