Raymond Engling, 78, of Freeport died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Stephenson Nursing Center.
Born August 7, 1933 in North Buena Vista, Iowa he was the son of John and Bernadette (Brimeyer) Engling. He married Mary Mergen December 26, 1956.
For five years Ray owned and operated the Hollywood Grill in Dubuque, Iowa with his wife and mother. He worked for Burgess Battery in Freeport and for 25 years worked for Rockford Power Train until his retirement.
He was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran serving active duty from 1951 through 1955 and active duty reserve from 1955 through 1967.
He was a member of Zion Church and loved the Lord Jesus.
He loved family, fishing, boating, wood working and calling Bingo at the Stephenson Nursing Center.
Surviving is his wife, Mary of Freeport; his daughter, Cheri (Dennis) Kerchner of Freeport; his son, Terry (Terese) Engling of Cicero, Indiana; 4 sisters, Marcie Travis, Helen (Archie) Molzof, Joyce miller, and Cindy Ohnesorge all of Dubuque, Iowa; 4 brothers, Carl Engling of Sioux City, Iowa, Alfred (Mary) Engling of Dubuque, Iowa, Leon (Kathy) Engling of Davenport, Iowa, and Don (Alice) Engling of White Water, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard Engling; his granddaughter, Rachel Engling; 2 brothers; 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Zion Church.
Visitation will be at Zion Church Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
A memorial has been established.
