Freeport: Raymond F. Meier, 79 of Freeport died Monday January 18, 2010 at University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI. Born January 11, 1931 in Freeport he was the son of Edgar and Ora (Fye) Meier. On November 22, 1953 he married Lucille Heidenreich. Raymond worked for Burgess Battery for over 30 years and then worked for Economy Fire & Casualty, St Paul Ins. Co and then Met Life Ins. Co. Retiring in January of 2000. Ray has been a member of Embury United Methodist Church for over 60 years and was a past maintenance trustee for the church and also a member of the Embury men's coffee club. He was a member of the Freeport Elks Club, Freeport Eagles Club and a former member of the Germainia Club and loved to bowl.
Ray is survived by his wife, Lucille; one daughter, Rhonda (Tony) Stagliano of Monroe, WI; one son, Steven (Norma) Meier of Freeport: four grandchildren, Cody Meier of Henderson, NC, Dalton Meier of Freeport, Abbie Stagliano and Jessy Stagliano both of Monroe, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Jerrie and one granddaughter Makayla.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday January, 23, 2010 at Embury United Methodist Church, Freeport with the Reverend Jonathan Singleton officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum, Freeport. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, Freeport. A memorial has been established.
