Reginald Goeke, 88 of Dakota, IL died Sunday, July 15, 2018 in his home. He was born on April 5, 1930 in Dakota, he was the son of Albert and Thera (Wise) Goeke. Reg was a 1948 graduate of Dakota High School. He went on to graduate from the Agriculture short course at University of Wisconsin, Madison. On April 11, 1950, he married Eudocia "Dotty" Crull at the Dakota Community Presbyterian Church in Dakota.
He took over the family farm and worked on improving the herd to Registered Holsteins, which won many awards. Most recently, he was breeding to achieve a completely polled herd. He served on the school board and later donated land for improvements to the school's athletic fields. He enjoyed sports and especially liked track events in which his children and grandchildren participated. He was a life-long member of the Dakota Community Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and Sunday School teacher. He loved to travel by car and knew many back roads. He also liked growing fruit trees, grape vines and iris.
Surviving are his children, Kathy (Larry) Callahan of Annapolis, MD, Andrew (Joan) Goeke of Ridott, Mark (Mary) Goeke of Dakota, David (Valerie) Goeke of Dakota, Elizabeth (Tom) Sorn of Rock City, Nola (William) Woessner of Shannon, Evelyn (Jack) Lister of Edgewood, IA, James (Lori) Goeke of Dakota, and Paul (Lisa) Goeke of Rock Grove; 26 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Goeke; a sister, Carol (Charles) Laible; brother and sister-in-laws, Charles (Pal) Crull of Pueblo, CO and Glenwood (JoAnn) Crull of Winnebago; special friend, Bob Sciortino; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, and one grandson, Christopher Goeke.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 18 th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 19 th at 10:00 am at the Dakota Community Presbyterian Church with Rev. Duane McDonough presiding. Interment will take place at the Dakota Cemetery.
