Freeport-Reverend Lyle Lyndon Leverton, 87, of Freeport, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at his home.
Born August 22, 1918 in Oneco Township he was the son of Homer and Grace (Klontz) Leverton He married Ethel May Dinsmore January 18, 1941 and she died October 19, 1993.
He was a World War II veteran. He was a dairy farmer in the Freeport area from 1945 to 1959.
A life time minister he served the United Methodist Church in Henderson from 1959-1967, London Mills 1959-1970, Farmer City at both Weedman and Prairie Chapel 1970-1980, LaPlace and Hammond from, 1980-1983 where he retired from the conference. He served the VanBrocklin Church from 1985 to 1994 and Richland church from 1995 to the present.
Surviving are his sons, Lyle (Maria) Leverton Jr. of Eleva, Wisconsin and Philip (Barbara) Leverton of Freeport; 1 brother, Franklin (Betty) Leverton of McConnell; 2 sister in-laws, Irene Leverton and Letha Leverton both of Lena; 7 grandchildren, Lora (Doug) Partney, Lance (Jenna) Leverton, PJ (Wendy) Leverton, Elise Leverton, Wende (Dave Harkness) Leverton, Jane (Heath) Kluck, and Travis (Dawn) Leverton; several great grandchildren; and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two foster sons; one grandchild; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.
Funeral service will be Monday 11 a.m. at Cedarville Baptist Church with Reverend Lyle Babcock officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in London Mills on Tuesday.
A memorial has been established for Bible distribution through Revival Fires.
Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
