Richard G. Borchert, 90, of Freeport, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his home.
Born August 20, 1923 in Chicago he was the son of George and Anna (Povilaitis) Borchert.
He married Alice Gosswein April 24, 1948 in Chicago.
Richard served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945.
He was a Mason contractor in the Chicago area for many years.
In 1965 he purchased a Dairy Farm in the Freeport area moving to the farm in 1972.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freeport.
Surviving are his wife, Alice of Freeport; two sons, Thomas P. (Joan) Borchert of Elmhurst and William G. (Karen) Borchert of Lake Zurich; four grandchildren, Katherine (Justin) TeBrake, Christopher (April) Borchert, Maribeth (Joel) Kamstra, and Ryan Borchert; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Barbara; two sisters, Martha Bloomquist and Lydia Justice.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 at Walker Mortuary and Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
There will be a visitation Wednesday, October 2, 2013 10:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. committal service at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery in Oak Lawn.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church and Bethesda Lutheran Children's Home.
