Richard J. "Big Bird" Brookman, 61, of Freeport, died Friday, March 11, 2016, at his home.
Born August 25, 1954 in Freeport he was the son of Gerald and Eva (Stukenberg) Brookman. He married Rebecca Rose August 25, 1979.
Richard was a machinist working 43 years for Micro Switch in Freeport.
An avid pistol shooter and hunter he enjoyed life and the outdoors. His memberships included N.R.A. and the Auxiliary Illinois Police Association.
He was a lifelong fan of Harley-Davidson, even building his first chopper.
He will always be remembered for his priceless sense of humor.
Surviving are his mother, Eva; his wife, Rebecca; his daughter, Victoria "Tori"; and his sister, Diane (Chuck) Lofgren all of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald; and his sister, Nancy Levy
Cremation rites will be accorded.
There will be a visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Walker Mortuary.
There will be a memorial service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established.
