Richard "Rick" A. Donaldson, age 63 of Dixon, IL, formerly of Ridott, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born September 6, 1959 in Rockford; the son of Richard and Rosa (Trampel) Donaldson. He was a 1978 graduate of Dakota High School.

Rick worked at Malcom-Eaton and later at Kreider Services. He grew up on a dairy farm where he developed a love for cows. He also loved country music, puzzles, and going to fairs. He was an avid high school sports fan, especially of Dakota and Dixon Schools. Rick was a proud uncle and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his mother, Rose Donaldson of Freeport, IL; sisters, Kim (Dale) Weitekamp of Raymond, IL and Michelle (Greg) Guilliams of Freeport; sister-in-law, Carla Donaldson of Ridott, IL; nieces and nephews, Sarah Weitekamp of Tulsa, OK, Sam (Emily McGrew) Weitekamp of Philadelphia, PA, Anne Weitekamp of Raymond, IL, Jeffery Guilliams of 29-Palms, CA, and Danny Guilliams of San Diego, CA; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Dick and brothers, Timmy and Mike.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport, IL. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Oregon, IL. A memorial fund has been established for the Dixon Group Home. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
