Richard H. Frende, age 83 of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born February 9, 1933 in Freeport to George and Esther Frende. He married Rosemary V. Klontz on January 4, 1958. Dick was a Korean War Veteran, Proudly serving with the U.S. Army, 24th Infantry Div. (Go Army!!) He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and had the utmost respect for all veterans. He always looked forward to joining Frank Henry and fellow Vets in making hundreds of meatballs for the Wednesday "Spaghetti Nights" at the VFW Club. Dick was employed by Alcan Cable Co. and E & W Clothing House for many years.

Over the years, Dick and Rosemary enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, touring Europe with their friends, Rose Ann and Norm, and attending theater productions in Chicago and Freeport High School. He was a World War II History buff, Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed listening to Big Band and Frank Sinatra music.

Dick is lovingly survived by his wife, Rosemary; daughter and her husband, Lisa and Brice Miller; son, Jeffrey Frende; grandson, Adam Miller; granddaughter, Andrea Miller (Adam Blade); great-grandson, Braydon Blade; great-granddaughter, Aubrielle Blade; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Roland Shelton; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Lonnie Klontz. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Ross; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Berniece and Robert Castle.

A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday, October 28, 2016 at Walker Mortuary in Freeport at 11:00 am. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Silent Hill Cemetery in McConnell, IL. A memorial fund has been established for Little Cubs Field located in Read Park.
