Freeport – Richard "Dick" L. Homan, 66 of Freeport passed away peacefully with family at his side on Saturday, February 26, 2022 after a brave battle with cancer.

He was born on July 21, 1955 to Robert and Imelda (Baumgartner) Homan.  He graduated from Pearl City High School in 1973.  He married Cynthia Lohr on January 31, 1976 and together they raised a family.  He worked at Micro Switch Honeywell in many different positions as well as Spectrum Painting.

Dick was an avid hunter and a Chicago Bears fan.  He loved to work with wood, go motorcycle riding with Cindy and organizing his PCHS class reunions with his friends.  He was very much a people person, a fun loving 'character' and he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his mother, Imelda Homan; his wife, Cynthia; his son, Daniel (Alysa) Homan of Barrington, IL; his daughter, Laurie (Tim) Wachlin of Freeport; Brothers, Ron Homan of Freeport; Michael D. (Kim Klouser) Homan of Freeport; John (Dawn Shrum) Homan of North Carolina; Robert (Connie) Homan of Jamestown, TN; and his sister, Barbara Homan of Jamestown, TN; his brother-in-law, Leon (Pat) Lohr of Cedarville; and mother-in-law, Lida Lohr of Freeport.  His legacy also includes three granddaughters, Veronica, Alexis and Tiffany Homan as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, his daughter-in-law, Megan Homan; Father-in-law, Delbert Lohr and his nephew, Kevin Lohr.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Walker Mortuary beginning at 10am followed by a service at 12 pm.  A memorial has been established in his name for FHN Hospice.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
