Richard "Dick" R. Hornung, age 91 of Cedarville, IL, passed away at home on Sunday, June 18, 2023. He was born May 23, 1932 in Lena, IL; the son of the late Raymond and Esther (Sawtelle) Hornung. Richard married Althea Oswalt on December 9, 1949.

He was a Supervisor for Bergstrom Manufacturing until retiring in 1994. After retiring, he spent 20 years remodeling houses with his brother, Irvin.  He was a member of Zion Church of Freeport. Dick enjoyed hunting, camping, and traveling with Althea. He also had a passion for model trains, diecast model cars, detailing his car and taking care of his lawn.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Althea Hornung of Cedarville and was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, David Lee; infant brother, Harold; and brother and sister-in-law, Irvin and Carol Hornung.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport, IL. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. also at Walker Mortuary. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery in Freeport.
