Richard Fredrick Lehmann

FREEPORT - Richard F. Lehmann, 78, of Freeport died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at FHN Memorial Hospital.

Born December 14, 1936 in Freeport to Richard and Marion (Rodebaugh) Lehmann. He married Janice (Thiele) Lehmann July 24, 1954 in Freeport.

He worked from 1954 to 1992 at Northwestern Telephone/GTE/Contel Communications /Verizon and Lehmann Communications from 1992 until retiring in 2013.

His memberships included Moose, Eagles and a former member of the Toast Masters.

He enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley, spending time with family and friends, and watching his birds and squirrels.

Survivors include his wife, Janice (Thiele) Lehmann of Freeport, 2 daughters Wendy (Daniel ) Elgin of Freeport and Laura (Kevin) Robinson of Blue Bell, PA; 2 sons John (Veronica) Lehmann of Baileyville and Daniel (Marsha) Lehmann of Lena; 11 grandchildren Matthew (Holly) Elgin of Aledo, TX, Sunshine (Anthony) Mergen of Lena, IL, Misty Lehmann (Paul Cook) of Sedalia, MO, James (Krista) Elgin of Wautoma, WI, Amber Gibson, Jennifer (Derek) Bradford of Freeport, Jeremy Lehmann (Danielle Williams) of Freeport, Kaley (Lucas) West of Freeport, Jacob Nesemeier (friend Sydney Schneider) of Freeport, Nicole Lehmann of Baileyville, Degan Lehmann of Baileyville; 18 great-grandchildren Lydia, Lily, Hunter, Mariena, Kaleb, Dylon, Angel, Morgun, Bella, Jeriah, Kinnidy, Karianna, Kinley, Amaya, Daren, Emarie, Jordan, and Lakota; 1 brother Arland Lehmann; 1 sister Shirley (Jim) Cartwright of Elkhart, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1 son Richard C. Lehmann of Freeport; his mother Marion of Freeport, his father Richard of California, and 3 sisters and Rosetta (Ronald) Peters of Freeport, Donna (Delbert) Bear of Freeport and Billie Rae of Freeport.

Funeral services will be at 3pm Saturday, July 25 at Walker Mortuary. Friends may call 1pm to 3pm at Walker Mortuary.

Burial will be in the Cranes Grove Cemetery in Freeport.
