Freeport, IL – Richard L. Rees, 77 of Freeport passed away at FHN Memorial Hospital with his wife by his side.  He was born on February 2, 1944 in Freeport to the late Lee and Hazel (Cook) Rees.  He married Patricia Chappel on October 6, 1979 in Arkansas.  Together they raised a family.

Richard was retired from the Air Force after 20 years.  He also retired as a machinist for Sauer Dan Foss in Freeport.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, military aircraft, camping and traveling with Patricia in their motorhome.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son, Christopher (Klaudia) Rees of Tonica, IL and his daughter, Jean (Joel) Young of Arizona City, AZ. His legacy also includes his grandchildren, Meara Rees, Tristan Rees, Tayla Young and Gavin Young.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Del Rees.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11 ^th at Walker Mortuary with a visitation beginning at 10:30 and a service immediately following at 11:30am.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  A memorial has been established in his name.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com
