Obituary

Freeport
Rigmore H. Katel passed away peacefully in Freeport on May 18. Born on April 8, 1926, she was a graduate of Elmhurst College and Purdue University.

Over the years, Re was active in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (Freeport) and Esperanza Lutheran Church (Phoenix.) She also served in the Amity of Freeport, cherished her time with her PEO sisters and, if you believe her, was dealt decades worth of bad cards in bridge clubs in Freeport and Phoenix.

She was predeceased by her husband, William C. Katel, M.D., with whom she stood as a proud and independent partner and her daughter, Cindy Katel. She is survived by her son, Ken and his wife Nancy Hindle-Katel of Tarzana, California, as well as her daughter, Janet Katel-Johnston, and her husband Brad Johnston of Phoenix. She is also survived by the joys of her life, her grandchilden and great grandchild: Michelle Stelter and her husband, Mike, of Tempe, Arizona, Will Hindle-Katel, M.D., of New Haven, Connecticut, Glenn Johnston of Denver, Kristin Busk of Los Angeles, Maryn Johnston of Denver and the next generation, Lydia Stelter of Tempe.

The family asks that Re be remembered with unprompted smiles and laughter. The world is a better place for her days.

A celebration of Re's life will be held on Thursday, July 30, at 11:00 am, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2700 W. Stephenson St.
