Robert F. Becker

Robert F Becker 93 of Freeport, IL passed away Friday August 14, 2026 after an extended illness. Born January 16, 1933 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Alfred C. and Lydia Hohman Becker. 

Robert was a graduate of Grand Island High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1956. After graduation he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and earning the rank of Captain prior to leaving the service in the United States Army.  Robert was employed by Micro Switch retiring in 1993. He also volunteered as a BSA Scoutmaster guiding Troop 2 of Freeport on many wonderful outings. 

Robert is survived by his loving wife Eleanor, sons William (Micki) Becker of Bushnell, FL, Thomas (Becky) Becker of Blanchardville, WI, Daughter, Wendy Mellnick Wells (Rob) of Orangeville, IL 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, three sons, a Daughter in Law and 1 great grandchild.

There will be a visitation held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 beginning at 10am at Walker Mortuary.  A service will immediately follow at 11am also at Walker Mortuary.  Pastor Wayne Fischer will be officiating the service.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
