Freeport-Robert G. Blasing, 77, of Freeport, died Monday, October 16, 2006, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born August 18, 1929 in Buck Eye Township he was the son of Walter and Thyre (Jensen) Blasing. He married Dolores D. Walter July 25, 1953.
Robert was a local Butcher for many years. He worked at the Masonic Temple and also did small engine repair at his home.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Excelsior Masonic Lodge.
Robert was an avid fisherman and camper. He loved the Cubs and Bears.
Surviving is his wife, Dolores; one son, Michael R. Blasing; 4 daughters, Wendy L. Boland, Dawn D. (Thomas) Burden, Laura L. (Bernard) Durham, and Melody L. (Richard) Babcock; 2 brothers, Donald (Alice) Blasing and Duane Blasing all of Freeport; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and his furry friends, Rambo and Willy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and his best friends, Nancy and Lee Whitson.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
There will be a gathering of family and friends Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Following the gathering at 7 p.m. there will be a memorial service with Reverend Neville Kretzmann of First Lutheran Church officiating.
A memorial has been established in his name.
