Obituary

Freeport – Robert E. Eustice, 93 of Freeport passed away at home with his family by his side on June 21, 2022.  He was born on July 29, 1928 in Freeport to the late Frank and Bessie (Ferry) Eustice.  He married Margaret Michelas in 1950.  She passed away in 2000.  He worked for the Feed company and later drove the wrecker for the Ford garage in Freeport for 20 years.

Robert was an avid Cubs fan and he loved to watch dirt track racing in Freeport, and in Farley and Cedar Rapids, Iowa as well go camping in Baraboo, WI and bowling.  In bowling he held a high score for a few years.  He'd take anybody, anywhere, anytime all you had to do was ask.  He had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold.  He was also a devoted family man. He also had the patience of a saint.

He served in the army from 1952-1957. While serving in the Korean war he would run ammunition to the front lines and chauffeured a couple of generals around.

He is survived by his son/grandson, Mike (Angie) Rosemeier, daughters Carol Jones, Shirla Peterson and Judy Janssen .  Niece Janice (Burdette) Klever and nephews, Bill (Sandra) Rickert and John (Sue) Rickert.

He is predeceased by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Katherine Eustice; sister Esther and brother- in- law John Rickert , brother Karl Eustice sister-in-law Nettie; son-in-laws Dale Jones, Walt Peterson and Gary Janssen;and grandson, Steve Wilkinson.

He is survived by  his Grandchildren, Sherry Bloyer of Clinton, WI; Rick Beem of Edwardsville IL, Laurie Rice of Springfield, MO; Penny (Rick) Luy; Brenda Janssen; Jeff Petersen both of Freeport as well as Lisa (Steve) Tucker of Florida.

His legacy includes 23 great grandchildren, 36 great, great grandchildren, 4 great, great, great grandchildren and 7 great nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to caregivers Deb, Shawna, Bri, Amie, Sophie and Jodi. Also to the VA hospital/clinic in Madison and Freeport, the Friendship Center Adult daycare in Lena , Tri-State Home Health and Peak Home Health.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, July 5th beginning at 9:30am at Walker Mortuary with a service to immediately follow at 11am.  Burial will take place with military rights at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  A memorial has been established in his name.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
