Robert L. Giacherio, 61, of Oro Valley, formerly of Freeport and Rockford, left this world to join his parents on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Casa De La Luz Hospice Care in Tucson, Arizona. Born October 26, 1946 in Rockford, Illinois, he was the son of Peter and Lucille (Scienza) Giacherio. Surviving is his sister, Virginia (Paul) Featherston of Oro Valley, AZ whom he lived with for 44 years; nieces and nephews: Cindy and Tim Leo (Oro Valley); John and Eileen Featherston (Cincinnati); Tim and Suji Featherston (Mesa, AZ); Ed Featherston (Chandler, AZ); Marie and Brett Shadle (Blacksburg, VA); grandnieces and grandnephews: Ashley, Natasha, Caitlyn, Peter, Elliot, Ciara, Alden, and Tristan. He was preceded in death by his parents. "Bobby" attended School of Hope (Rockford, IL), Malcolm Eaton Center (Freeport, IL), and Achieve Northwest (Tucson, AZ). Bobby enjoyed traveling in the family motor home, listening to Johnny Cash, eating McDonald cheeseburgers, and dancing with pretty women.
Funeral service will be Monday 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary where at 7:30 p.m. there will be a scripture service. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Rockford.
