Freeport: Robert D. Gravenstein, 78, of Freeport died Monday April 5, 2010 at Stephenson Nursing Home, Freeport. Born May 4, 1931 in Stephenson County. He was the son of Paul and Viola Gravenstein. In 1954 he married Lona Campbell and she preceded him in death in March of 2007. He was a member of The First Church of the Open Bible and farmed in the area for many years. Robert is survived by three sons, Tony Gravenstein of Freeport, Rich Gravenstein of Kansas City, MO and Richard Gravenstein of Beloit, WI; One Brother-In-Law, Don Small of Florida and one Sister-In-Law, Ruth Campbell of Durand. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday April 9, 2010 at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Dr. Burliss Parker of The First Church of the Open Bible officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary. A memorial has been established.
