Obituary

Robert L. Haas, 84, of Freeport, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at his home in Freeport after a long illness.
Born October 28, 1924 in Jo Daviess County he was the son of Joseph and Martha (Dolan) Haas. He married Alice Keith March 12, 1955 and she preceded him in death April 2, 1987.
Robert was a truck driver for Freeport Fast Freight for 30 years.
He was a WWII veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne Army- Paratroopers from March 11, 1943 to February 6, 1946.
His memberships included VFW and Freeport Eagles.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Carolyn Stewart of Lena and Martha Haas of Tijuana, Mexico, 3 granddaughters, Michelle (James) Anderson of Houston, Texas, Kim (Brandon) Sparks of Katy, Texas, and Shannon (Bryan) Fong of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; 1 grandson, Craig (Sarah) Stewart of Monona, WI; 6 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Wallace "Jim" Haas of Freeport; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and 6 sisters.
It was Bob's request that all attendees of his funeral come in casual wear.
His funeral service will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Lee Luebke officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Memorials have been established for FHN Memorial Hospice and Freeport Chapter of the VFW.
