Freeport: Robert D. Johnson, 72, of Freeport, died Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at his home.
Born July 31, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of George and Anna (Guzior) Johnson. On October 18, 1958 he married Claire Mitchell in New York and she preceded him in death in May of 2001.
Robert worked for Micro Switch retiring in 1985.
His memberships include Grace Episcopal Church, Freeport Elks Lodge, Evergreen Masonic Lodge, High Twelve, Eastern Star, White Shrine, and the Advisory Board for Monroe Assembly Rainbow for Girls. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Freeport AMVETS.
Surviving are three daughters, Laura (Warren) Winkler of LaGrange Park, Ellen (Richard) Vanderheyden of Rockford, and Carol (Jeffrey) Francis of El Paso, TX.;
Six grandchildren, Bradley and Amanda Winkler, Adam and Emma Vanderheyden, Becca and Mackenzie Francis; one brother, Leonard Johnson from New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Cremation rites were accorded.
A memorial service will be held Monday 2 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with the Reverend Mary Ann Hill officiating. There will be a gathering of friends and family Monday 1 p.m. until time of service at Grace Episcopal Church.
Entombment will be in the Church Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Grace Episcopal Church.
