Freeport- Robert Johnston, 79, of Freeport died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born September 18, 1927 in Freeport he was the son of William and Frances (Hiteman) Johnston. He married Joyce Kline on June 25, 1955 in Freeport. He was a veteran of WWII, Pretzel City USA board member, a fifty year member of the Masonic Excelsior Lodge #97 and Embury United Methodist Church where he ushered for many years. He retired in1992 from Honeywell after 39 years.
An aviation enthusiast, he will be remembered as "a good husband, father, grandfather who enjoyed time with his family"
Surviving is his wife Joyce of Freeport; son Mark (Mary) Johnston Westerville, OH; one daughter Ann (Edwin) Bauscher of Freeport; two grandsons Tyler and Travis Bauscher of Freeport; two granddaughters Heather and Courtney Johnston of Westerville, OH. One nephew Kenneth Bardell West Bend, WI; one niece Marilyn Kendall of Melvern, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm Wednesday at Walker Mortuary.
Funeral service will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Robin Benson and Reverend Gerald Kline Officiating.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
Memorial has been established in his name for Embury United Methodist Church.
