Robert Thruman Jr., 81, of Freeport, died Sunday, November 16, 2008, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born January 19, 1927 in Freeport he was the son of Robert and Alice (Shay) Thruman Sr. He married Mary Kempert August 11, 1945 in Freeport while on leave from the Army.
Robert worked for Fairbanks Morse and Cheeseman Construction.
He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the infantry.
Surviving are his wife, Mary of Freeport; 2 daughters, Cathy (Michael) Stodden and Chris (Steve) Bamberg both of Freeport; 2 sons, Mike Thruman of Mazomanie, Wisconsin and Alan (Julie) Thruman of Lindenwood; 1 sister, Phyllis Loring of Rockford; 4 brothers, James Thruman, Glen (Nelda) Thruman, and Donald Thruman all of Freeport, and Richard (Sandra) Thruman of Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Virginia Veer; 3 brothers, Kenny Thruman, Frank Thruman, and Eddie Thruman; 1 grandson; 1 sister-in-law; and 2 brother-in-laws.
Funeral service will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Dennis Jarrard of Laurel St Church of God officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary
