Robert "Bob" L. Kintzel 80 of Freeport died Sunday September 21, 2008 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Born March 28, 1928 in Freeport he was the son of Howard L. and Gladys L. Kintzel. He and Verna Murray were married May 22, 1948 at Ft. Sherman, Panama. A U.S. Army Veteran he studied engineering and worked as the Freeport City Engineer in the 1960's. He then worked for Civil Construction until his retirement in 1990. He was a past member of the Freeport Lions Club and was active in the Stephenson County Historical Society. Bob enjoyed playing racquetball and bicycling. He is survived by his wife of Freeport; one son Jeff (Cheri) Kintzel of Freeport; two daughters Carol (Brad) Otto of Freeport, Sharon (Paul) Welt of Cedarville; nine grandchildren Lori Kintzel of Jackson, Mich., Heather Kintzel of Freeport, Nichole (Jeremy) Bell of Grand Rapids, Mich, Whitnie Otto of Grand Rapids, Mich., Kiefer Otto of Freeport, Jeremy Welt of Freeport, Theresa Welt, Joshua Welt, Tiffany Welt all of Cedarville; one great granddaughter Zoe Bell of Grand Rapids, Mich.; brother James C. (Mary Ellen) Kintzel of West Covina, CA; nephew James B. (Debbie) Kintzel of Covina, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday 4pm until 7pm at Walker Mortuary.
Funeral service will be Thursday 1:00 pm at Walker Mortuary.
Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in his name for the American Heart Association.
