Robert (Bob-BMac) MacKenzie, age 79 of Cedarville, IL, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born May 16, 1938 in Stephenson Co.; the son of the late John and Florence (Wienand) MacKenzie. He married Rose Scheetz on November 29, 1963.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Several of his favorite jobs were bartender, chief, and his most treasured job was at Hooker Harnesses building aircraft and auto harnesses. He loved his horse, Dude and his dogs and cats. He also loved swimming, riding motorcycles, and watching RJ & Kevin racing motor-cross.
He is survived by his wife, Rose MacKenzie of Cedarville; daughter, Jodi (John Ortman) Gempler of Cedarville; son, Doyle (Jill) Simoec of Freeport; grandson, Robert "RJ" MacKenzie of Freeport; brother, Ronald MacKenzie; and his niece who he considered a daughter, Amy Scheetz. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dolores Blackiston, Shirley Taft, and Jackie Stewart.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 21st at 11:00 am at Walker Mortuary in Freeport with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
