Robert "BoB" Dale Phillips, age 68 of Lena, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Mercyhealth Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born November 21, 1948; the son of the late Dale and Sarah (Shippee) Phillips. Bob married Carol Manthei on November 21, 1979.
He had served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He worked for Burgess Battery and Anchor-Harvey. Bob enjoyed fishing and loved animals. He was an avid Cubs, Bears, Badgers, and Duke fan. Together, Bob and Carol enjoyed going to garage sales, flea markets and antique shops.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Lena; daughter, Danielle (Kevin) Depies of Mt. Horeb, WI; grandson, Dane Robert, age 4; brother, Tom Phillips of Freeport and Terry (Cheryl) Phillips of Pearl City, IL; nieces & nephews, Brad, Kim, Brian, Jennifer and Amy; great nieces & nephews, Trinity, Hope, Skyler, Falyn, Brock, Samantha, Emma, and Troy. He was preceded in death by his parents and great-niece, Daleany Sue Phillips.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20th at 1:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport, followed by a time of fellowship at the Pearl City American Legion. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
