Freeport-Robert R. Miller, 72, of Freeport, died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at his home after a long illness with cancer.
Born February 21, 1934 in Freeport he was the son of Roy and Esther (Kampmeier) Miller.
A 1952 Freeport High School graduate, he attended Highland Community College.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 thru 1958.
Bob used his life experiences to help others.
He was a substance abuse counselor serving at Rosecrance and Alpine Park Center.
Bob enjoyed sports and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He loved spending time at the lake with his family and attending his grandchildren's events.
Bob was a Stephenson County Board member and a life-long Democrat.
Surviving is his former wife, friend and companion, Sharon Miller of Freeport; daughters, Stephanie (George) Yarzak, Dana Brill, and Kristen (Brian) Keith all of Freeport, Lisa (Tim) Duffield of Hoffman Estates; sons, Craig (Pearl) Miller of Centreville, VA, Barry Miller of Freeport; 10 grandchildren, Ellen, Brett, and Ryan Yarzak, Emily and Sarah Brill, Kyle and Matthew Keith, Steven and Nathan Duffield, and Samuel Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be Monday 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Msgr. P. William McDonnell officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary where at 7 p.m. there will be a prayer service.
A memorial has been established for the Alano Club of Freeport.
