Roberta M. Geiseman, 92, of Freeport passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Stephenson County Nursing Center under the care of FHN Hospice. Born July 15, 1921 in Freeport, IL, she was the daughter of Harvey and Ellen (Morrison) Walters. Roberta was married on March 16, 1938 to Walter Geiseman Sr. in Clinton, Iowa. She and her husband farmed most of their married life in the Shannon, Pearl City, and Dakota areas. Together they raised five sons of which she was always so boastfully proud of and loved every grandchild who came into her life. She loved hosting Sunday and holiday dinners for all who could come never fearing lack of space or enough prepared food, "We'll make do" she would say. While living in her home in Dakota, she enjoyed visiting with family, neighbors, and friends while relaxing on her rear deck, built for her by her sons, which overlooked her lawn and flowers of which she spent many hours attending to. For years she enjoyed knitting and crafts which she had continued for a time after entering Stephenson Nursing Center. She then became an avid bingo player having more stuffed animals in her room than she had places to put them.
Surviving her are her sons, Robert (Ardis) Geiseman (Freeport, IL), Dennis (Angela) Geiseman (Orangeville, IL), Walter (Colleen) Geiseman Jr (Dakota ,IL), and Randy Geiseman (Tucson, AZ). Also surviving are her brother, Ronald Walters (Glendale AZ), a daughter-in-law, Lois Geiseman (Dakota, IL) and a sister-in-law, Harriett Geiseman (Rockton, IL) along with 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Ramona Harms, and son Kevin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, April 18, 2014 at Walker Mortuary with visitation from 10 A.M. until time of service. Interment will be in Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory.
