Obituary
Freeport-Roger D Downs, 66, of Freeport, died Thursday, February 26, 2004, at the Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.
Born December 19, 1937 in Lanark he was the son of Robert and Charlotte (Wilson) Downs.
He was the owner of Freeport Taxi Service.
He enjoyed genealogy, working on and driving antique cars.
Surviving is his mother, Charlotte of Freeport; one daughter, Michelle Burkett of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Kevin (Imelda) Downs of Carthage; one granddaughter, Kristina Burkett of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one nephew, Kaiser Downs of Hamilton; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many friends.
His grandparents; father; one aunt; four uncles preceded him in death.
Funeral service and burial will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Reverend Don Jamerson of First Free Methodist Church officiating.
Friends may call Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
