Roger Frank Jones, age 85 of Davis, IL, passed away from this life peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024. He was born in Monroe, WI on July 26, 1938, the son of the late Frank and Marie (Egli) Jones.
Roger graduated from Dakota Community High School in 1956. He began working at Burgess Battery Co. in Freeport, IL where he met his soulmate, Marie Ann. They were married July 16, 1960. The couple dairy farmed for 34 years and raised three children: Bonnie Sue, Ronnie Lee, and Arthur Frank.
After retiring from farming, Roger began a new career in construction, first working for Rudy Kraut Construction and then Jones Construction. He finally retired at age 82. Roger enjoyed collecting Lionel model trains and Dept. 56 buildings. He also enjoyed woodworking; fishing, especially Canadian fly-ins; and snowmobiling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dolores Jones; newborn triplets: Charlene, Darlene, and Roger Jr.; sister, Nancy and brother-in-law, Veryl Mills; sister, Shirley and brother-in-law, Gary Shelton; step-father, John Shelton; brother-in-laws, Lester Rosemeier, Robert Rosemeier, and Eugene Keister.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marie Ann; daughter, Bonnie (Rick) Edwardsen; sons, Ron (Sheri) Jones and Arthur (Kelly) Jones; grandchildren: David (Erin) Jones, Jennifer (Jeremy) Morgan, Eric (Ana) Edwardsen, Nicholas (Jessica) Jones, and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Betty (Marley) Drewelow; sister-in-laws, Audrey Hersko, Karen Keister, Janice (Carl) Blair, Pamela (Ellis) Boughton; and nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL with Pastor Ellis Boughton officiating. The final resting place will be at the Dakota Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Research Foundation.
