Obituary

Freeport-Roger L. Leid, 72, of Freeport, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, peacefully at his home.
Born October 7, 1934 in Freeport, he was the son of George M. and Lois I. (Phillips) Leid. He married Jean Briggs June 04, 1960.
He graduated from Freeport High School in 1952. He served a Tool and Die apprenticeship at Micro Switch. He attended Highland Community College and then received his Bachelor's and Master's degree at Northern Illinois University.
Roger was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Roger was employed by Micro Switch for 12 years, and then did consulting for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria. He served as Assistant Professor in Engineering at Bradley University in Peoria, and then became Division Chairman of the Technology Department at Rock Valley College. He became director of Human Resources at Amerock Corp in Rockford. He founded Triact Consulting Inc. retiring in 2001.
He contributed to the following publications, "Man's Progress" Martin and Associates, Denver, Colorado, 1972, "N/C: Theory to Reality" Numerical Control Society, New York City, 1973, "The Two Worlds of N/C" Computer Aided Manufacturing-International, Inc., Arlington, Texas, 1974.
He attended Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, belonged to Rock Run Long Rifles Gun Club, and enjoyed fly fishing and target shooting.
Surviving are his wife, Jean of Freeport; daughter, Beth Leid of Freeport; his son, Jon (Rose) Leid of Winnebago; his granddaughters, Lindsay Helms of Freeport and Katelyn Leid of Winnebago; step-mother, Norma Leid of Rockford; step-brother, Jerry (Carol) Brown of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene Leid.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation will be Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport.
Memorial services will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church.
Interment of his cremated remains will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
A memorial has been established for Park Hills Evangelical Free Church Youth Ministry.
