Obituary

Cedarville-Ronald H. Beam, 78, of Cedarville, died Saturday, December 9, 2006, in his home.
Born March 24, 1928 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the son of Lester A. and Gail M. (Seely) Beam. On June 21, 1952 in Freeport, Ronald became the loving and faithful husband of Barbara A. Baldwin. She died on November 3, 2004.
After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1951, he was employed by Micro Switch, a division of Honeywell, as their first artist. He was with Micro Switch for 36 years, retiring in 1986 as Director of Marketing Communications.
He served in the Marine Air Corp as a control tower operator.
He was an active member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church since 1973.
Dad lived a contented life. It reflected his strong Christian values and his love for family. As our role model, he will be lovingly remembered for his gentle strength and tender heart.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Wendy J. (Bill) Schmidt of Blanchardville, WI, Jody L. (Stan) Petta of Freeport, and Rhonda L. (Bruce) Allen of Rockford; his daughter in-law, Jodi Beam of Cedarville; grandchildren, Leah Schmidt, of Los Angeles, CA, Brandon (Kristy) Schmidt and Derek Schmidt of Tucson, AZ, Amber Davis and Beau Petta of Freeport, Jenna Davis of Fort Collins, CO, Cassie (Dustin) Meinert of Bloomington, Chris Petta of Champaign, and Griffin Allen of Rockford; 1 great- granddaughter, Sophia Schmidt of Tucson; step-mother in-law, Isabel Baldwin of Freeport; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents; wife; one son, Jeffrey R. Beam; one brother, Daniel Beam; and one sister, Bonnie Edwards preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Funeral service will be Friday 10 a.m. at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church with Reverend Clifford Gilleland officiating. Burial will be in the Cedarville Cemetery.
A luncheon will be held at the church for family and friends following the committal service at the cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Park Hills Evangelical Free Church and Cedarville Historical Society.
