Ronald L. Boyer 65, of Ridott died unexpectedly Wednesday December 16, 2009 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born August 14, 1944 at Freeport he was the son of Arthur M. and Dorothy M. (Asche) Boyer. He was a 1962 graduate of Dakota High School and later married Karen L. Olthoff on May 20, 1967 at First United Methodist Church in Freeport. For more than forty years he was a member of Teamsters Local 325 and was currently working for William Charles Construction. Ron coached D & D baseball, was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a "Jack of all trades" working with anything from welding to woodwork. He truly enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Madison who was the apple of his eye. Surviving are his wife Karen of Ridott; one daughter Jodi Beam of Cedarville; one son David Boyer of Monroe; granddaughter Madison of Cedarville;
Three brothers, Joe (Janice) Boyer of Davis, Russell (Debbie) Boyer of Ridott, Richard (Sharon) Boyer of Rock City; two sisters-in-law Lorraine (Kenneth) Wilhelms of Freeport, Shirley (Bill) Guffey of Palm Desert, CA; two brothers-in-law Duane Olthoff of Freeport and Larry Olthoff of Stockton; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Michael, son-in-law Jeffrey Beam, parents and inlaws Richard and Margaret Olthoff. Visitation will be Sunday from 2pm until 5pm at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota. Funeral service will be held Monday 10:30 a.m. at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Katherine Thomas Paisley of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.
