Ronald E. Floerke, 56, of Freeport passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at his home after courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family and friends. Born February 7, 1958 in Freeport he was the son of Stanley and Valery (Brockhauson) Floerke. Ron was a 1976 graduate of Freeport High School and a veteran of the United States Army. On June 18, 1977 he and JoAnn Kreeger were united in marriage. He enjoyed motorcycling, camping, fishing and working on cars. He is survived by his wife JoAnn of Freeport; his grandmother Margaret Floerke of Milwaukee, WI; two children Ron Floerke of Freeport, Laura (Chris) Wright of Freeport; two grandsons Devon and Jaxon; two sisters Cheryl (Steve) Pyper of Freeport, Janice (Jeffery) Burris of Freeport; a brother Ray (Melissa) Floerke of Forreston; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; mother-in-law Arlene Kreeger; several brothers and sisters-in-laws. Preceding him in death were his parents, grandparents father-in-law Willie Kreeger and a brother-in-law Tom Kreeger. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Donnley Dutcher of St. John United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at the Freeport City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
