Ronald M. Olson, 76, of Freeport, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born September 25, 1932 in EauClaire, Wisconsin he was the son of Milton and Margaret (Gilbertson) Olson of Osseo, Wisconsin. He married Ruth L. Hangartner September 5, 1959 in Osseo, Wisconsin.
Ron received his Bachelor of Science Degree from UW-Stout in Menominee, Wisconsin.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Ron worked at Micro Switch for 35 years retiring in 1994.
He was an active member of St. John United Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Ron was a world traveler. He enjoyed church league horse shoes.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth of Freeport; his mother, Margaret of Osseo, Wisconsin; 2 daughters, Ronalee Wracker of Bolingbrook and Lisa (Tim) Ebbers of Rock City; 1 son, Eric Olson of Freeport; 4 grandchildren, Trent and Todd Wracker; Colin and Kristi Ebbers; 1 brother, Torrey Olson of Pearl City; his beloved cat, "Curious" George.
He was preceded in death by his Father.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorial service will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Dr. Donnley Dutcher officiating.
There will be a gathering visitation Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at St. John United Church of Christ.
Memorials have been established for St. John United Church of Christ and Veteran Memorial Park.
