Ronald Laverne Wishard, age 81 of Davis IL, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. He was born November 1, 1941 in Rockford, IL; the son of the late William Laverne and Jane Wishard.

Ron married Sandra Kay Meyer on March 1, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL. Ronald owned and operated Wishard's Body Shop and Towing Service located in Davis, IL from 1974 until his retirement at the age of 67. He was a past member of the Dakota Lions Club, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rockford, St. John's Lutheran Church in Pecatonica and Faith Community Church in Davis, IL.

Ron enjoyed racing throughout his life as he participated at the Rockford Speedway during the 1960s. After his racing career, he enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons during their racing stints.

Ron was an avid gardener and could always be seen picking weeds and making his garden perfect. Ron also enjoyed riding his golf cart around the town of Davis, always striking up a conversation.

He was a proud conservative and supported many charities such as Saint Jude's, Shriner's, B oy's Town, Paralyzed Veterans, and Wounded Warriors.

Ron is survived by his sons, Bryan (Stacy) of Ridott, Rick (Brenda) of Davis, Steve of Boulder City, NV; brother, Bill (Pat) Wishard; grandsons, Josh and Austin; granddaughters, Kayla, Morgan and Ashley; as well as numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; son, Jeffrey; and sister, Sharon.

A private family service will be held Friday, December 16th at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL with interment held immediately thereafter at the Davis cemetery. A memorial fund has been established to benefit St. Jude's. Condolences can be shared at www.walkermortuary.com .
