Freeport-Rosalind A. Olson, 85, of Freeport, died Friday, July 29, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born April 23, 1920 near Garnavillo in Clayton County, Iowa she was the daughter of Charles and Louisa (Staack) Gossman. She was a graduate of Elkader High School. She married Alvin "Al" C. Olson October 6, 1939 in Clayton Center, Iowa. Alvin preceded her in death August 30, 1999.
She worked for J.C. Penny in Waterloo, Iowa for 15 years and then in Davenport, Iowa until her retirement in 1974.
A life long Lutheran, she became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church when she and her husband moved to Freeport in 1998.
Rosalind was an expert seamstress who enjoyed needlework and music.
Surviving is her daughter, Roberta (Daniel) Edler of Cedarville; three grandchildren, David C. (Collin) Edler of Downey, CA, Carina M. Edler of Freeport, and Cydney R.
Edler of Carbondale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Willis Schwichtenberg and Vicar Paul Roggow officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Thursday 12 noon until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
