Rose L. Dotzel, 83, of Freeport died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Born March 27, 1931 in Freeport she was the daughter of Edward F. and Elsie H.(Jaeke) Lalley. Rose was a 1950 graduate of Freeport High School. She and Edward C. Dotzel were united in marriage in March of 1965, he preceded her in death on October 26, 2012. She worked for Northwestern Phone Co. and stayed with Contel Phone when they purchased it for 43 years. Rose enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. Surviving are her children Kathy (Arlen) Busser of Lena, Edward (Naomi) Dotzel of Orangeville, Albert Beuth of Freeport; grandchildren Amanda Busser of Lena, Nate Busser of Freeport, Joe VanBrocklin of Chicago, Joshua Dotzel of Orangeville; one great grandson Jaxon Busser of Freeport. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sisters Alice Meads, Evelyn Robertson and one brother Edward Lalley. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum and a gathering of family and friends will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment of remains will be at Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name.
