IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosemary A.
Hill
September 12, 1953 – October 18, 2025
In loving memory of Rosemary (Rosie) Ann Hill, age 72 of Freeport, IL, Rosie was born on September 12, 1953, in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, to Harold Picha and Wanda Haven McCann. She passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family.
She shared a beautiful life with her husband of 42 years, Darrell Hill. The two met at the race track, where their love story first began, and later married at the courthouse – a simple start to a lifetime of love and devotion. He loved to fish, and she was his biggest supporter, just as he did everything he could to care for her. Their bond was built on laughter, patience, and an unshakable love that grew stronger with every passing year.
She filled every room with warmth love, and the gentle rhythm of her sewing machine. Her heart was as big as her love for those around her – always giving, always kind, and always finding joy in the little things.
She was employed at Micro Switch Honeywell for 30 years, where her hard work, dedication, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with.
Her favorite color was blue, and her spirit shined brightest during her favorite time of the year, Christmas. She loved to sew clothes, pouring her creativity and care into every piece she made. She also had a special fondness for snowmen, collecting them year after year – each one a reflection of her joy, kindness, and the magic she found in life's simple moments.
Her family and friends will remember her laughter, her love for Hallmark movies, and the comfort she brought to everyone lucky enough to know her. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth will live on in the memories she created and the love she left behind.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Hill. Her brothers Rick (Pam Meier) Picha, Jeff (Jody) Picha, and Randy (Toni) Picha, Tony (Sue) Picha and sister Cindy Squires. Her sons, Jeremy (Angie) Picha and Mike (Nicole) Hill. Her daughters, Tamera Buss and Kim (Jake) Thruman. She had 13 grandchildren Caz Wurster, Alyssa Wales, Kelsey Bronkema, Chasity Hill, Madison Wilson, Clara Wilson, Arianna Williams, Brayden Schap, Mckenzie Schap, Brayden Hill, Savannah Schap, August Sperry, and Everlynn Sperry. She also had 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is joining her mother Wanda McCann, her father Harold Picha, her brother Jackie Picha, brother in-law Robert Squires, nephew Robert Squires Jr., and niece Tiffany Squires.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 14th from 4-7 p.m. at the Freeport Eagles Club.
Until we meet again, we'll keep your favorite snowmen smiling and your Christmas lights shining, just for you.
