Russell I. Miller, age 87 of Davis, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. He was born January 19, 1936; the son of the late Otto and Bessie (Olhausen) Miller. He married Mary Hevrin on November 27, 1959; she passed on July 22, 2014.
Russell served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He farmed until 1990 then drove truck for B-Line and later for Klever Excavating. He was a former member of the Freeport American Legion and the Freeport Eagles Club. He was an avid Euchre player, playing every Wednesday at the Rock City Tap, at the Eagles Club, and every chance he could with his boys. He also enjoyed bowling. Russell was known for having a saying for everything.
He is survived by his sons, Russell L. (Ginny) Miller of Davis, IL, Randy (Stacy) Miller of Woodbine, IL, Rodney Miller of Orangeville, IL, Ricky (Dawn) Miller of Freeport, IL, and Robby (Lisa) Miller of Orangeville, IL; 15 grandchildren; 20 + great grandchildren; and best friend, Marilyn Dameier. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred, Leo, Lloyd, Eddie, and Lawrence; and sisters, Ilene Blunt and Bertha.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL. The funeral service will be Friday, April 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Rock City Cemetery in Rock City, IL.
