Obituary

Ruth G. Rawleigh of Freeport passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Freeport Memorial Hospital.

Daughter of Clyde and Irene (Richtermyre) Bourne of Kent, Il she was born December 21, 1922 in Kent, IL. She and Paul Rawleigh of Freeport were married December 3, 1944 at Calvary Evangelical Church in Stockton, IL.

She was a homemaker and worked at Economy Fire and Casualty Company for 20 years as a department supervisor before retiring in 1990.

She loved to work with animals and in past years she and her husband had a mini zoo at their home on Pearl City Road where they were hosts to area school children on their field trips.

When her children were young, she was involved in Cub and Girl Scouts as a leader. She enjoyed all of their school and church activities and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She loved gardening, quilting and especially fishing.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, American Business Women's Association and named Woman of the Year twice, Inner Circle member, and past president of National Association of Insurance Women of Freeport. She was also an election judge for many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela (Steven) Brinkmeier of Pearl City, one son Randy (Jan) Rawleigh of Freeport. Four grandchildren, Jamie (Mark) Melville of Pearl City, Todd (Lisa) Brinkmeier of Pearl City, Lora (Ryan) Hubbard of Peoria, Jeff Rawleigh of Freeport. Four great granddaughters, Laura and Kendra Melville of Pearl City, Bronte Hubbard of Peoria, and Reese Rawleigh of Freeport. Three great grandsons, Mitchell and Kenner Brinkmeier of Pearl City and Hason Hubbard of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and one brother.
Funeral will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 at 2:30pm with visitation from 1:30-2:30 pm at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Larry Thomson of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
