Ruth Springer 84, of Freeport died Monday August 6, 2007 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Born October 22, 1922 in Crystal Falls, Michigan, she was the daughter of Knox and Saima (Saario) Tidwell. She attended Amasa, MI schools before moving to Freeport in 1931. She worked for Burgess Battery Co. prior to doing various domestic jobs before retiring in 1982. Ruth enjoyed sewing and gardening but her true passion was genealogy. She was a member of the Stephenson County Genealogical Society and volunteered at the Freeport Public Library History department.
She is survived by two daughters; Barb (Norman) Untersee of Freeport, Linda (Bill) Rinehart of Winchester, TN; one brother Richard Tidwell of AZ, one half brother Floyd "Bud" Wescott of Virginia; two half sisters Dorothy (Glen) Shenberger of Pecatonica, Geraldine Wescott Garrow of IA.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Duane J. Springer, one sister and three half sisters.
Funeral service will be Wednesday 1:00 pm at Chapel of Peace in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Jim Brown officiating.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
