Ruth Ilene Withart, 86, Freeport formerly of Savanna, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013.
Born May 6, 1927, Savanna the daughter of Philip and Alicia (Libberton) Plattenberger. She married John Wm. Withhart December 18, 1944.
Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Savanna High School. She enjoyed playing clarinet in the High School and American Legion Bands. She was active in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Ruth a member of the First United Methodist Church of Savanna and active in the women's group.
Ruth and her husband owned the Withhart's Meat Market in Savanna. She was retired from Micro Switch. She and John did traveling in their motor home before moving to Pharr, TX.
Surviving are her husband, John of Freeport; her two sons, John P. (Carol) Withhart of Denison, IA, Benjamin F. (Laures Young) Withhart of Shoreview, MN; daughter, Connie L. Withhart of Mt. Carroll, IL.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nephews, Dennis Plattenberger, David Fleischer and niece Ruth Fleischer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert and Philip Plattenberger.
Family requests memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church of Savanna, IL.
Memorial Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Sat. June 22, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Savanna.
