Cannova
September 17, 1944 – February 6, 2022
Sandra J. Cannova, 77 of Freeport, IL passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born September 17, 1944 to the late Shell and Isabel (Faber) Boles and married Joseph Cannova on June 1, 1963.
Sandra worked for the law office of Mahoney & Hauser, now the law offices of Mahoney & Mahoney and Hauser Law for over 40 years. They were her work family and she never considered fully retiring. Her kind and compassionate nature made her the perfect person to help people in their time of need, making many friends along the way.
Las Vegas was a frequent travel destination where she always enjoyed the shows, the sights and all the great places to eat. She loved her dogs and music, especially Motown. She had a beautiful voice and in the early years was fond of singing church hymns on Sundays. Sandra was a wonderful cook, happiest when preparing holiday meals and spending time with family. The grandkids favorite was her homemade chocolate pie! She was the heart of her family and will be missed by all.
Sandra is survived by her husband Joseph, sons Vincent (John DeCola) Cannova of Lynnfield, MA and Shell (Shawn) Cannova of Forreston, IL; sister Marsha Kerkhoff of Freeport; grandchildren Miranda, Travis, Bryanna and Trista; and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-laws Richard Kerkhoff and Anthony Cannova.
A private family service will be held Monday, February 14, 2022 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A Celebration of Life will follow on a date to be determined.
A memorial fund has been established for Guiding Eyes for the Blind providing guide dogs to people with vision loss. A nonprofit organization connecting exceptional dogs with individuals for greater independence at www.guidingeyes.org
