Sandra (Sandy) K. Schweder, age 71 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, September 19, 2022. She was born November 19, 1950 to the late Calvin and Audrey Rahn. Sandy was adopted and raised by her Aunt and Uncle, Heiko and Alberta Kerkhoff.
She graduated from Freeport High School with the class of 1968. Sandy worked at Burgess Battery and Newell, prior to becoming a daycare provider. For 25 years, Sandy cared for and loved children in her home.
Sandy married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Schweder on November 1st, 1969, and together they raised four amazing children. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Sandy loved her family, and being around her grandchildren brought her great joy. She took pride in attending their sporting events, and other school activities. Her hobbies included making American Girl doll clothes, reading, and taking trips to the casino. Sandy was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Freeport.
We love you and will miss you greatly, and we look forward to the day when we will see you once again!
Sandy is survived by her devoted husband and four children, David (Staci) Schweder of Sioux City, IA, Carrie (Richard) Schrader of Winnebago, IL, Staci (Chad) McNett of DeKalb, IL, and Andrea Schweder of Freeport; grandchildren, Dominic (Katlyn) Schweder, Kaley (Zac) Schreck, Cameron Schweder, Lauryn (Kristian) Williams-Soto, Stephany Schrader, Ryan McNett, Sydney McNett, and Brayden Schweder; step-grandchildren, Makenzie Melby, Payge Ronfeldt, Blake Ronfeldt; great-grandchild Bennett Schweder, and another great-grandson on the way in January; brother, Robert Rahn of Rockford, IL; sister Diane Lawrence of Arkansas, numerous cousins, and longtime special friend, Sandra Plowman.
Sandy was proceeded in death by her parents, Heiko and Alberta Kerkhoff, and Laverne and Bernice Schweder, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the excellent care and compassion from Bridgette, and Carly, and the other nurses at SSM Health Monroe Hospice, and Palliative Care. Also, a special thank you to Sandy's favorite neurosurgeon, Mustafa K. Baskaya MD, and to Nora Hill, PA for the excellent care given.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, October 1, 2022 with a visitation beginning at 10am and a service that will be at 11am all at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Freeport. There will be a luncheon following the service at the church in the fellowship hall. Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
